You know you spent a good day playing volleyball when you want to eat everything in sight even though you’ve already eaten dinner. *hungry grumble* Yep, I played quite a bit of volleyball today and enjoyed the sun. I even have a bruise on my forearm as a lovely souvenir. Gosh, I can’t remember the last time that has happened.

Playing more catch up: Would you ever go out with a friend’s ex-SO or want them to date one of yours? Do you passively or aggressively look for an SO?

Let’s see, as for a friend dating an ex, well, I think it’d be really weird. I mean, here I was at one point very close to this person, and then suddenly, I’m not. Although it’s something I would rather not have in my life, who am I to stand in the way of true love? I think that’d be kinda selfish of me. After all, it’s not like I’m my friends’ keeper or anything. Heheh. I think I’m adult enough to be able to be polite to my friend’s new bf and perhaps even become friends. But it definitely would be weird.

As for this passive and aggressive stuff. Let me define the terms. To passively look for an SO means to kinda just live your life as a single person. You meet people, but you’re not pursuing them. You make friends and one random day when you least expect it, BLAMMO, it happens.

As for aggressively seeking an SO, I suppose it means that you’re always out there trying to make things happen. You constantly go out to meet people and really want to find that special someone.

I was watching tv at first and saw a commercial for Perfect Kiss Long Lasting Lip Color. So their motto is that it won’t smudge off, get wiped off, kissed off, and is even waterproof. You can also have it on for DAYS. It stays on until you wash it off. Okay, so it seems like some miracle lipstick.

Then I thought about it and wondered how you can wash if off if it’s waterproof. I don’t think that you’d rub your face really hard with a washcloth because that would probably damage them. I went on their webapge and read that you are supposed to use THEIR lipstick remover. Okay, so you have to spend more money on this product. Well, at least they include a tube of the remover in the package, but what happens when it’s all gone? Yeah, I’m just being lazy on a Saturday evening.

Oh yeah, I am watching this show called Cheaters. It’s a pretty scandalous show if you ask me. The show is about these people who suspect their SO of cheating on them so the Cheaters Team sends out field “investigators” to follow the “suspect” around. Then they videotape the SO cheating with some other person and shows the video to the “client.” After the “client” has seen the evidence of their SO cheating on them, they do a confrontation where they walk in on the cheater in the act. And of course, they’ve got this all on camera. I suppose not all of the cases are of their SOs cheating, but they only show the cases where there is actual cheating. Heheh. There’s some messed up people out there doing’ messed up things.

I also just watched “As Good as it Gets” again. I always remember that I watched this movie in Hong Kong when I was studying abroad. I remember there were 5 of us sitting somewhat in the front of the theater and laughing loudly at all the jokes while the rest of the theater laughed after reading the subtitles. *smiling at the memory*

Let’s see, I have to play a little bit of catch-up on some topics I wanted to discuss. Well, not only do I have to catch up, but I have some new ones coming down the pipeline. I suppose that’s what happens when you are in a car and you have nothing else to do but talk.

Coming down the pipelines:
How long should you wait before making a move on a person who has just gotten out of a relationship?
What counts as a date (versus just hanging out)?

Okay, back to the question: How long are you supposed to mourn a relationship?

I suppose the simple answer would be, as long as it takes to get over it (have closure in your heart and in your mind). I mean, you could technically be “over it” the very same day as we all react to thse things differently. No matter what the “standards” are, there are so many more exceptions.

The thing is though, if I see someone start going out on a bunch of dates after getting out of a long relationship, then I’d wonder what it was about the relationship that allowed them to get over it so quickly. Maybe the 2 people weren’t all that close. Maybe they spent the last days of the relationship pretty much broken up.

So if you’re looking for some numbers, here’s my opinion, based on what I think my reactions would be if I were to see it for myself. If a couple has gone out for 1 year and then broke up, I wouldn’t expect them to date for at least 2 months. I mean, you’re still trying to sort things out in your head and all at that time. As for getting serious with someone, I wouldn’t expect that for at least 3 to 4 months. Sounds like a long time, but time flies, so I’ve noticed.

And there you have it… the mourning period. It lasts for as long as you need it to because before getting involved with other people, you should be totally okay with how things turned out. Otherwise, your next relationship could be messed up before it’s begun.

Nothing you could say can tear my away from my guy, [insert rest of lyrics here]” So I use an alarm clock to wake up in the mornings. Other times, I wake up on my own and turn on the radio so I won’t fall back asleep. Well, it often seems that the first song I hear kinda stays in my head for a while, especially if it’s kinda catchy. Heh. Today’s song is “My Guy” by Mary Wells. They play this song fairly often on the radio and one of the first things I think about is the movie “Sister Act” where they sang this song and changed some of the lyrics.

I think I watch too much tv/movies because I’m starting to associate things with tv shows, commercials, or movies. Heheh. For example, there was this one song that they played in-betwen innings at the Giants game the other day, and it was that techno-y song that they played during a Mitsubishi car commercial. And a couple of weeks before that, I was in the car with my brother and he had burned that song onto a cd, and when it came on, I said, “Hey, it’s that song from the commercial!” Heheh. Perhaps this is a bad sign. Maybe I should veg out less.

Off for a picture-taking adventure! Happy Friday!

Go Giants!! I got to watch the exciting game vs. the Padres today. The game went to 12 innings and lasted about 4 hours. Whew, luckily the sun moved away later in the afternoon so we were in the shade. Heh, but with the good came kinda bad because it started getting cooler and I started feeling cold. Luckily I had a jacket with me. The final score was 6 to 5.

I was pretty amused and sorta disturbed during the game because about 10 rows back were a group of kids. I would say about the age of 10 or 11. Well, they got really into hecking and the worst thing I heard from their mouths were, “You suck like a f****n whore!” Maybe I misheard them, but that’s what I think I heard. Kids these days.

Oh those crazy Japanese are at it again, inventing new things: Japanese jet prototype to rival Concorde.

How do they come up with all these ideas?
