13MPH

It’s a good idea when parking lots of have speed limits. Yes, it’s most likely that nobody will give you a exceed the limit, but there are lots of pedestrians, so it’s dangerous if cars are tearing down the way.

So I was in one of my friends’ housing complexes recently and noticed that they painted some speed limits on the road. “13 MPH” is what it says. 13? What an odd number? How did they come up with 13? Was it that the housing association folks get frustrated with driving at 10 mph and that 15 mph is too fast? Heh. I just thought that was somewhat random.

Woohoo! I was walking around Golden Gate Park today and wandered over to the Japanese Tea Garden after 5 o’clock. It turns out that the garden has free admission after 5. Hooray! It’s the little things that make me happy sometimes.

You what sucks? Paper cuts. You know what sucks more? Getting a paper cut from a piece of paper in your bag when you’re digging around for your wallet. Yeah…ouch.

*yawn* It’s only 9:30 and I can’t believe (it’s not butter…) that I’m sleepy already. I decided to stay in and chill out. I watched some tv, started to assemble this paper panda that I printed off of the internet. It’s really cool!

Brain fried…nothing interesting to write about. Have a safe and fun holiday weekend.

Congratulations to J&Z on their wedding! May your lives together be blessed with joy and prosperity. Don’t I sound like a fortune cookie? Well, I do like to eat those darn cookies. They smell good and taste good too; except for those stale ones.

Wow, I took about 370 photos at their ceremony and banquet. A handful of them I had to delete because they were blurry, but I’m very pleased with how they all turned out (and hopefully J&Z too). Yay me! This was the first outting with my new camera.

After dropping the money on this camera, I kinda feel the urge to pick up a lens or two. I felt a bit limited with my lens range. Oh well, gotta save up those pennies.

And How!

I received this from Roger Blogger:

What is the origin of the phrase “And how”?

“and how! Indicating ‘intensive emphasis of what someone else has just said,’ ‘and how!’ is a long-popular catchphrase first recorded in 1924. The Americanism possibly derives from the German ‘und wie!’ or the Italian ‘e come!’, meaning the same thing, and once very common among Americans of German and Italian extraction, respectively.” From “Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins” by Robert Hendrickson (Facts on File, New York, 1997).

Although, nothing beats it when the Simpsons uses cool phrases.

Thanks!

Does anybody know where the phrase “and how” came to be? I’ve heard people use it in movies, but I hardly ever hear anyone use it in real life. One of my friends said it during a conversation we had and I asked him about it. He didn’t know where it came from, but he picked it up from movies probably.

I decided to look it up and this is what dictionary.com had to say:

Idioms:
and how - Most certainly; you bet: She’s a good dancer, and how!

It’s a cute phrase, and I think I want to attempt to use it correctly during a conversation at the appropriate time.

Too Much Information?

Somebody recently wrote to me lately about blogs and personal websites detailing your daily life or semi-daily life. At what point are you giving too much information? What if people don’t care? What if people are crazy and stalk you?

I suppose there’s a balance when putting up information about yourself for the world to see. I write this blog for several reasons: 1. To air out some of my random thoughts that swirl around in my head; 2. To help far away friends keep in touch with my life; 3. As a casual journal for myself. I’ve found it amusing to read old entries to see what I was up to a year or two ago.

Monday. Blah.

My First Digital Camera

Hooray! I’ve finally purchased my very first digital camera. I’ve been drooling over this camera for ages, but have been hunting for the right price, and luckily I found it yesterday. Woohoo!

Time to start practicing with this camera since I want to use it at my friend’s wedding next weekend. It would be a shame if all the pictures were too bright or too dark. I’m sure he’s counting a little bit on getting some nice pictures outta me.

Since it’s tough to start a business, I thought I’d give my friend a short plug on my blog today. Jewelry for all your other parts is the slogan. Yes, it’s body jewelry. Although I only have my ears pierced, I checked out the site and saw some pretty cute jewelry.

So go visit
Brilliant Ice today and buy something!
