Sparkly Swarovski Crystals

So I decided to make myself a beaded necklace just for fun and when I was at Michaels to buy some beads, I had a choice of Swarovski or generic beads. Since the Generic ones were on sale, I decided to go with that. Well, turns out that I miss counted how many of the different types I actually needed (doh!) and I need to dip into my existing supply of beads.

It turned out that I happened to have some Swarovskis that I picked up on sale one time in the same color as one of my bead colors (yay!). I figured, they’re the same color, so I could mix them in. Well, when I poured them onto my mat, I noticed that the Swarovskis were much more sparkly. I don’t know if it’s because the polish is better or what. I used wonder why I have to pay more for Swarovskis and why people made a bigger deal out of them, but I must say, if you want beads with more sparkle and deeper colors, then go with the real thing. But of course, if the cheap stuff is THAT much cheaper, maybe I could live with less sparkle.

Caltrain Chronicles- Pesky Chinhairs

So what do you do when you arrive early enough to the Caltrain lot? Well, you can sit there and pluck your chinhairs.

That is what I saw the lady in the car that I pulled up to. Yup. She was working very diligently too. Trying to get a bunch before stepping out of her car to go catch the train.

Cheaper Weddings

With everyone worrying about the economy, it’s no wonder that people are cutting back where they can. One place that you’d think would still want to splurge is for their wedding. You know, because of the “dreamed of this day” mentality that has been drilled into our heads through a lifetime of movies and tv shows.

Well, this article seems to show us that people are becoming more practical about weddings: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26721403/. I suppose only something drastic like the economy melting down would be powerful enough to get people to finally become more practical about their wedding.

DIY (do it yourself) is definitely a way to save money, but how about NDI (not doing it) for unnecessary things? One thing to immediately take off the table are those giant flower centerpieces. There are many things you could substitute if you would like to have something in the middle.

Facebooking

So after much harassing from my friends, I finally decided to sign up for Facebook. The thing is, I was curious at how many friends I would end up adding in what period of time. So, I’m going to request to add 1 person and then see how many people end up finding me as a result of it. My guess is that within the first 2-3 weeks, I’ll pretty much add most of the people, and then over the next 6 months, will add a few more here and there.

Good Luck Obama

It’s going to be a doozy of a first term. Bush didn’t exactly leave the state of America in the best shape. Now why is it that exiting presidents have a tendency to mess things up as they leave?

Election Day

Looks like today is going to be an historic day. Who will be president? Will we have our first non-white person in the office? Will we have our first female Vice President in office?

Do your part and get out there to the polls. Cast your ballot or don’t complain about how the government doesn’t do this or that.

Good luck to the candidates, and thank gaaawd I don’t have to hear anymore (for a while at least) empty promises, exaggerated (mis)interpretations of candidates’ policies, and general smack talking about one another.
