Popcorn Ceilings

With the power of the internet, I decided to look up the 70s rage for house builders, popcorn (aka.acoustic) ceilings. Apparently, some contain asbestos…yuck!

I looked it up because I was curious how to get rid of it. apparently, it’ll take a little elbow grease, but it seems as though the average joe could handle it. The only thing you have to do first is send an inch square or two to a testing center to find out if it contains asbestos. if it does, then only a licensed professional can remove it, otherwise you’re free to remove the popcorn in your spare time.

Not-So-Cheap UC Education

Two years ago, I wrote this blog entry ( which showed the increase in UCB fees over the past decade or so. Since the fees will be skyrocketing over 30% next year, I thought it would be time to update my numbers.

Same as before, these numbers list ONLY the registration fee and educational fee. There are other random fees that the university charges (campus fees, health insurance, etc).
1994-1995: $3,799
1995-1996: $3,799
1996-1997: $3,799
1997-1998: $3,799
1998-1999: $3,609 (-$190) (Gray Davis becomes govna of CA)
1999-2000: $3,429 (-$180)
2000-2001: $3,429
2001-2002: $3,429
2002-2003: $3,564 (+$135) (the Governator takes office in the Fall of ‘03)
2003-2004: $4,984 (+$1,420)
2004-2005: $5,684 (+$700)
2005-2006: $6,141 (+$457)
2006-2007: $6,141
2007-2008: $6,636 (+$495)
2008-2009: $7,126 (+$490)
2009-2010: $8,373 ($1,247)

I wonder if a UC education will eventually cost as much as a private university education. If that’s the case, wouldn’t people rather send their kids to a private university? Cmon people, think of the children!

Back From My Trip

I’m glad to be back from my fun vacation in the Mediterranean. I must say… if you want to hit up a few countries in one trip with minimum hassle, a cruise is the way t go. Of course, you will be visiting very touristy cities with overly inflated prices, but hey, it’s easy. Now all I’ve got to do is sort through my 1,000 photos.
